Government Regulations
The U.S. Government has developed standards for establishing and maintaining employee identities. All federal agencies must comply with new standard for issuing strong biometric credentials to employees. The new identity standards are intended to improve security, reduce fraud, and improve government efficiency.

The U.S. federal standard is now being considered by state, local, and international governments. Broad adoption of the federal standard could lead to expanded applications and usage of a standard “identity platform”.

Implementation Challenges
The challenge to comply with the new identity standards can seem daunting to government agencies. Functional organizations that are unaccustomed to working together, such as Physical Security, HR, and IT, must collaborate to be successful.
